Stress Management Courses

We offer a seven hour stress management workshop developed and created by Elizabeth Friend

Aim:

To investigate the skills required to manage stress more effectively

By the end of the seven--hour workshop participants will be able to:

•    Understand the causes and effects of negative stress and considered coping mechanisms
•    Will have experienced a variety of relaxation techniques and discussed and considered complimentary therapies.
•    Will have made a personal plan to deal with negative stress in the future.

During the workshop we will cover the following:

•    The definition of stress and the main causes stress
•    The physical & emotional effects of stress on the body
•    How stressed are we? Using a questionnaire.
•    How to recognize the symptoms of stress
•    The importance of non-verbal communications
•    Listening skills
•    Learn to release tensions in the body
•    Strategies for dealing with stress - breathing, exercise, hobbies, relaxation. Meditation, eastern martial arts, etc
•    Consider our life balance and how we manage our time
•    Nutrition and diet and it’s importance with regard to stress
•    How complimentary therapies can be of benefit

By the end of the workshop each participant will have set a realistic action plan for combating stress in the future.

The workshop can be run either on one full day or can be spilt into 2 half day sessions with time in between to reflect on learning.

Understanding what stress is and how it can affect our health adversely both physically and mentally. Considering why we are stressed and how to make changes to stop patterns of becoming stressed & anxious. The delegate will work through an action plan towards a stress free future. Included in the workshop are breathing and relaxation techniques, stretching, exercise & movement, meditation and other ways to cope with the stress in our lives.

Run as 2 days or weekend course or 4 x 3.5 hour sessions

Case example

One woman had been suffering a very difficult home situation for years and this long term stress had affected her health. She was able to find ways to balance her life, adding regular time for fun and relaxation and this improved her health greatly.
