With such a dreadful summer here in the UK, the property market in the worst state than it has been for decades, utility bills soaring not to mention the price of petrol and the lack of employment, many of us may be feeling downhearted to say the least!

So how do we stay motivated and happy in such circumstances? It is certainly not easy. I found myself feeling very low and frustrated a few weeks ago following a series of let downs and what seemed insurmountable problems. But then I remembered the quote from Einstein

" Out of clutter, find simplicity. From discord, find harmony. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity"

This helped me focus on thinking of what was good, to let go of the disappointment and frustration and look at what I could learn from my present circumstances. I needed to walk my talk, to follow what I teach others and I was finding that extreemly hard. I had wanted to move from my much loved cottage to a smaller home nearer the coast. After months of numerous viewing, I had no offers. I felt offended that people did not want to buy my beautiful home, annoyed that I could not make the move this year. So I changed my thinking. I had not had to go through the stress of moving, when I was phyiscially unwell, I could stay in a place where I am happy for a few months more, I could concentrate on work and writing, without the worry or settling somewhere new or making house improvements, dealing with builders etc. I could spend time relaxing and working on imrpoving my health, I had not found my ideal new home, so maybe next year it would be there? It was not peronal but the current market situation making others fearful of making the move, hence no offers. I now feel better than I have in years! Some work contracts had expired, due to funding issues, I am now looking at starting new inspiring projects working with different groups of people, which has in turn given me renewed engery towards work. As Wayne Dyer said

" Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change"

I took each problem and changed the way I looked at it. I also started to meditate twice a day instead of once every few days and did more yoga. Each time I walked the dogs I looked out for any signs that nature may be offering, the heron standing stock still in the flood water, the 6 signets the size of their parents, but grey and fluffly but still alive, the way my dogs raced round in circles jumping with sheer joy, whatever the weather. even the worse times, try to see matters froma different prospective, then we can move through the bad times.

So my advice in to you is to stay in the present moment as much as you can, and address each situation with a new refreshed outlook. Do email me if you would like any help in making these changes to your thinking. elizabeth@positivetransitions.co.uk

The sun is shining now so I am going to take full advantage and get out there and enjoy! I wish you all a joyful autumn.
